Andoversford Football Club

Andoversford Nomads was formed at the beginning of the 2003/04 season with a merger of the long running Andoversford Club and Christchurch Nomads. The club continued to use the ground of Andoversford Sports Club and formed a first and second team from the combined teams. The first team competing in Division Two and the second in Division Three.

After the first full season the first team gained promotion finishing second and narrowly missing out on the title. Main rivals Rowanfield pipping us to the post. The second team finished mid table.

The 2004/05 season was less successful for the club. The first team was unfortunately relegated finishing second from bottom, but above Rowanfield. The second team again had an average season finishing mid table in division three.

After relegation the club was hoping for a good year in Division two. And they got it, with a second runners up achievement. Again narrowly missing out on the title but not on the last game of the season. The seconds had a struggle against relegation and always seemed to be struggling for a full team.

The 2006/07 season was a mixed bag of a year with the first team having their best ever year. Ending up 3rd in the first division. A few better results and we could have been even higher. The second team, however, despite having some good players struggled to find form. Ending the season second bottom in the league and relegated to division 4. They will be looking to bounce back immediately.

The 2007/08 season started with some in trepidation. The first team looking to improve on a third place finish in the top division and the second team looking to bounce back into division 3.

The second team had a promising start and managed to get top of the league at an early point; however, the mid season was not kind to us and we struggled to pick up results. Eventually we finished comfortably away from relegation but it did go down the last couple of games.

The first team also had a poor year spending much time in and around the relegation places; however, were able to avoid that fate and maintained their place in division 1.

During the close season the Club decided to drop it’s Nomad tag and revert back to being called Andoversford FC. It was agreed that there were no plans for the committee etc. to move and we were more than happy to show a commitment to the village.
